Type42 was based on the PostScript language for displaying TrueType fonts. It allows for printing all TrueType fonts on PostScript printers and allows for rasterization when displayed. All changes in font structure occur with PostScript procedures. It supports multibyte TrueType fonts in Chinese, Korean and Japanese.

This is a format for storing raster images, developed by the Ulead Company. It can include several edible layers, like in a Photoshop document. The image raster format was transferred to the TrueType font system and allows for the presentation of graphical information in a text format.
