This is a multi-thread method for compressing files, used in 7-Zip archivers for creating compressed 7z archives, and also in other archivers. It has better compression performance in terms of percentage and speed than bzip2 archives. It’s distributed with open code for developers.

This is one of the most common file compression formats. It was created by Russian programmer Evgeny Roshal. The format allows one to break up an archived file into several parts, to block an archive to prevent accidental modification, and to enhance data recovery (helps to renew a damaged archive). It has a 128-bit AES algorithm.
