SIX is an alternative extension of the SIXEL bitmap graphics format. It was developed for terminals and printers by Digital Equipment Corporation (DEC). SIX actually means six pixels of which an image stored in the format consists. This is an expansion of the PostScript programming language that’s often used in the publishing business. It was developed in 1982 by Adobe Systems. PS also contains print coordinates for objects on a page.
