JBG is a lossless format used to store both black and white, and color images. It was developed by JBIG (Joint Bi-level Image Experts Group) for compressing pictures to send by fax but can also be used quite effectively on other images. This is an expansion of the PostScript programming language that’s often used in the publishing business. It was developed in 1982 by Adobe Systems.
