The ABW file format is the default document format for the AbiWord word processing software and the format is based on XML. The ABW file format allows for advanced document layouts, rich text formatting, lists, tables, images and footnotes. This format is used for storing bitmap images. It supports many different file types and compression algorithms. One Palm bitmap file can contain multiple versions of the same images with different colors. These files are used on PALM devices.
