This is an expansion of the PostScript programming language that’s often used in the publishing business. It was developed in 1982 by Adobe Systems. JBIG is a standard for lossless compression of image formats. Despite the fact that it was initially developed for fax machines, it can be easily used for other types of images. Files saved in the JBIG format are smaller in comparison with the other industry standard formats like G3 or G4.
