MOD is a format containing MPEG-2 video and AC3 audio. The extension is rarely used, that is why it can be opened only with special programs. Also MOD files can be playback by DVD players. MOV is a format developed by Apple and used for movie and other video data storage. It is compatible both with Windows and Mac. However, Windows Media Player can open only early versions of the file extension. If you have versions 2.0 and higher, you need Apple QuickTime Player or you can convert it to other format compatible with your player.
