JBIG is a standard for lossless compression of image formats. Despite the fact that it was initially developed for fax machines, it can be easily used for other types of images. Files saved in the JBIG format are smaller in comparison with the other industry standard formats like G3 or G4.

The ABW file format is the default document format for the AbiWord word processing software and the format is based on XML. The ABW file format allows for advanced document layouts, rich text formatting, lists, tables, images and footnotes.
