The EXP format for Melco sewing machines contains only information about skips, which create necessary patterns. EXP for Bernina already contains information regarding thread color schemes used in a design. The files are edited and created in vector graphics processing programs.

JBG is a lossless format used to store both black and white, and color images. It was developed by JBIG (Joint Bi-level Image Experts Group) for compressing pictures to send by fax but can also be used quite effectively on other images. Moreover, it offers better compression than the earlier G3 and G4 standards.
