This is a data compression format in the Unix system for saving work space, created with the help of the TAR container, combining several files into one archive that’s placed in a tar.z compressed file.

This is an archive with files compressed with the help of the ARJ algorithm. It supports long file names; file management splits data into several files by size to protect data integrity. It was originally developed for earlier versions of Windows and DOS. Currently a version with open source code works with almost 10 different operating systems.
