This is an uncompressed format for storing bitmaps in grayscale or in the RGB or CMYK color systems. It can be created in Adobe Photoshop or on Scitex workstations using scanners for the high-quality processing and preparation of high quality images for printing.

A bitmap that is stored in compressed form using the RLE algorithm. SGI chromaticity ranges from 8 to 32 bits/pixel. The format is designed for use on Silicon Graphics workstations. It is also known as Irix RGB or IRIS.
